Film Screening and Panel Discussion

Language: Spanisch-German with interpretation available

Who feeds the world and at what cost?

South American countries are among the top 10 worldwide producers of soybeans but this massive production comes at the cost of the people's rights and the environment. The documentary "Por la Tierra – Im Namen der Erde" shows how the agroindustrial model endangers health, food, land and the environment in Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay.

After the documentary screening, we will hold a panel discussion with the film's director, Irene Kuten from Argentina, and members of the German civil society. The discussion will focus on the role of the German transnational corporations that profit strongly from this model, and on the resistance that affected communities enact to protect their territories, as well as the obstacles they face seeking justice in Germany.

Panel discussion with:

  • Irene Kuten (Argentina)
  • Christian Russeau (FDCL/KoBra, Germany)
  • Silvia Rojas Castro (ECCHR)

Afterwards we will have argentinian empanadas and drinks.

Please register below. We will have Spanish-German interpretation available, let us know if you need interpretation to another language via event@ecchr.eu and we will do our best to provide it.

An event by ECCHR in collaboration with Misereor, Dachverband Kritische Aktionäre, KoBra – Kooperation Brasilien e.V., FDCL - Forschungs- und Dokumentationszentrum Chile-Lateinamerika e.V.
