We handle your personal data securely and in accordance with the applicable data protection laws as well as the following data protection declaration.

What does “personal data” mean?

According to German law (Section 4 Paragraph 1 of the Federal Data Protection Act), personal data means “any information concerning the personal or material circumstances of an identified or identifiable individual (the data subject).” This includes all information that reveals something about a person. Information that cannot (or can only with a disproportionate amount of effort) be linked to an individual is not classified as personal data.

What kind of personal data does ECCHR collect and process?

ECCHR collects and processes personal data connected with this website only for the purposes of facilitating website use and your contact preferences. We do not use personal data  for any individual evaluations. We reserve the right to evaluate pseudonymous or anonymized datasets through a service provider (see below on Google Analytics). These can be used for example for website improvement and for statistical purpose, such as the evaluation of  user numbers, page views, and aggregated data on user interests). Further purposes include those relating to system security.

When you view information on our website, some data is saved in order to provide these services. This data may potentially allow for identification, including: the IP address of the computer making the request, date and  time of request, preferred mode of access/function, input data communicated, name of requested file, URL from which the file was requested or the desired action that was prompted.

Should the data not be anonymously evaluated, it will be deleted immediately after the end of a session. Some services on this website might involve the collection and processing of personal data. Your personal data is used by ECCHR for the following purposes:

Contact and registration forms

Should you yourself provide personal data (e.g. name or email address) on this website, this is always on a voluntary basis.  If you submit a query through our contact form or register for one of our events, we will store your name and email address in order to contact you, answer your mail (inquiry) or conduct the event. This also applies if you register for our newsletter.

We send our newsletter using the email tool CleverReach, which is operated by CleverReach GmbH & Co. KG, Rastede, Germany. We also save your data through the provider CleverReach. This is done on the basis of a contract on order data processing that we have entered into with CleverReach. CleverReach is a member of the Certified Senders Alliance. We pass your name and email address to CleverReach exclusively for the purpose of sending ECCHR’s newsletter and information on events and press releases. CleverReach stores your data in a way that ensures it cannot be accessed by other CleverReach customers or third parties. You can find more information in the data protection declaration from CleverReach (www.cleverreach.com/de/datenschutz/).

By providing us with your name and email address you consent to us using the specific data in this way. You may at any time revoke your consent. via a link in the newsletter or by sending us a message via the contact details on our website (see the link marked “imprint”).

This data is not used in any further way. Personal data is deleted as soon as it is no longer needed for the purposes for which it has been stored.

Cookies

ECCHR’s website uses cookies (small files of configuration information) in order to determine the number of users and the frequency of visits in order to make the site more user-friendly, effective and secure. We use cookies without any personal links to you. Furthermore, external providers, whose services are integrated in our website, use cookies. The use of many cookies depend on your consent. Most browsers are configured to automatically accept cookies. You can configure your browser to ensure that you are informed about the use of cookies,to allow cookies only on a case-to-case basis, to accept cookies in certain cases, to generally exclude cookies or to automatically delete cookies when the browser is closed. Disabling cookies may impair the functionality of this website. For example, videos uploaded on external service providers’ pages like YouTube, may not be displayed if you do not consent to the specific cookies.

ECCHR’s website uses the tool CookieBot in order to facilitate your control over the use of cookies. More information on cookies below.

Google Services

ECCHR’s website uses Google Maps from Google (Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA) to display maps. Embedding the maps requires that Google can note the IP address of the user. The IP address is needed to be able to send content to the user’s browser. We note that Google has its own data protection guidelines that are unconnected to ours.

Videos on the video platform YouTube are embedded in ECCHR’s website. The videos are hosted by YouTube (YouTube LLC, 901 Cherry Avenue, San Bruno, CA 94066, USA). YouTube is a subsidiary of Google Inc. Embedding the videos requires that YouTube can note the user’s IP address. The IP address is needed to be able to send content to the user’s browser. Videos are not displayed on our website when the respective cookies are not accepted.

AddThis Bookmarking Service

ECCHR’s website uses the AddThis plug-in from the company AddThis LLC (1595 Spring Hill Rd, Suite 300, Vienna, VA 22182,USA). AddThis is a bookmarking service that allows visitors to our website to bookmark the page they are on and share it with users on social media networks like Facebook, Google, Twitter, etc. If you use the AddThis elements, your internet builds a direct connection between the servers of AddThis and the relevant social media network or bookmarking service. It also uses cookies. The data created in this way (e.g. the time of access or the browser language) is transferred to AddThis LLC in the USA and is processed there.

If you post content from our website to social media networks, bookmarking services etc., a connection may be created between the visit to the website and your user profile on the relevant social media network. You can find more information on data processing and protection by AddThis LLC (www.addthis.com/privacy). This website provides details on the kind of data processed and the purpose for which it is used. By using the AddThis fields (small buttons located over articles that allow you to share the content directly), you give your consent to the processing of the data by AddThis LLC to the extent detailed on the website www.addthis.com. You can revoke permission for the use of your data at any time by activitating the opt-out cookie. You can find more information on this on the aforementioned AddThis website. If you do not want AddThis to collect your data, do not use the AddThis elements.

twingle GmbH

As a charitable organization, ECCHR is dependent on donations. In order to give our supported the possibility to donate online, ECCHR uses the service of twingle GmbH, Prinzenallee 74, 13357 Berlin, Germany. The twingle GmbH provides the technical platform for the donation process for this donation form. The data you enter when making a donation (e.g. address, bank details, etc.) will only be stored by twingle on servers in Germany for the purpose of processing the donation. We have concluded a contract with twingle for order data processing and when using the twingle donation form we fully implement the strict requirements of the EU data protection basic regulation and the German data protection authorities. Your data will be transmitted on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a DSGVO (consent) and Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b DSGVO (processing for the fulfilment of a contract). If you have given your consent for data processing, you can revoke your consent at any time. A revocation does not affect the effectiveness of past data processing operations.

In the case of a donation, we collect and use your personal data only to the extent necessary to fulfil and process your donation and, if applicable, to process your enquiries. The provision of the data is necessary for the processing of the donation process. A non-delivery means that your donation cannot be received. Processing takes place on the basis of Art. 6 (1) lit. b DSGVO and is necessary for the processing of the donation. Your data will not be passed on to third parties without your express consent. Excluded from this are only our service partners, which we need to process the donation or service providers we use in the context of order processing. In addition to the recipients named in the respective clauses of this data protection declaration, these are, for example, recipients of the following categories: Payment service provider, service provider for the dispatch of the donation receipt. In all cases we strictly observe the legal requirements. The scope of data transmission is limited to a minimum. You have the possibility to revoke your consent to data processing at any time. A revocation does not affect the effectiveness of past data processing operations.

Matomo

In order to improve website user experience, we anonymously track page views and clicks. We use the open source analysis tool Matomo, which runs on our website server. Third parties do not have access to the anonymous data we collect. For additional information, see Matomo’s privacy policy (www.matomo.org/privacy-policy).

In the case of the donation form of twingle, data is also collected and stored using Matomo on the basis of twingle's legitimate interest in the statistical analysis of user behaviour for optimisation purposes in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO. From this data, pseudonymised user profiles can be created and evaluated for the same purpose. Cookies can be used for this purpose. Cookies are small text files that are stored locally in the cache of the Internet browser of the page visitor. The cookies enable, among other things, the recognition of the Internet browser. The data collected using Matomo technology (including your pseudonymised IP address) is processed on twingle servers. The information generated by the cookie in the pseudonymous user profile is not used to personally identify the visitor to this website and is not merged with personal data about the bearer of the pseudonym. If you do not agree with the storage and evaluation of this data from your visit, you can object to its storage and use at any time by mouse click. In this case, a so-called opt-out cookie will be stored in your browser, which means that Matomo does not collect any session data. Please note that the complete deletion of your cookies means that the opt-out cookie will also be deleted and may have to be reactivated by you.

ECCHR EXPLORE

ECCHR EXPLORE is a special media content platform provided by ECCHR. By using the ECCHR EXPLORE app, you will be redirected to the metasphere server, which we use for this platform. ECCHR and metasphere collect personal data via ECCHR EXPLORE – namely your IP address and data about your browser, terminal device and the pages visited on ECCHR EXPLORE – with the sole purpose of making this media content available to you. After the end of your visit to ECCHR EXPLORE, your IP address is immediately deleted and no personal data is stored. We do not use cookies on ECCHR EXPLORE.

Links to external websites

ECCHR’s website contains hyperlinks with links to the websites of other providers. If you click on one of these links, you will be directly redirected to the relevant external websites. This will be clear from the change in URL and other indications. We cannot take responsibility for the secure handling of your data on these sites, because we have no influence over whether these entities adhere to data protection guidelines. SSL encryption

ECCHR’s website uses an SSL encryption to securely communicate confidential information. This is especially important e.g. if you use a contact form. You can identify  a SSL-encrypted page when the browser’s address starts with “https://” and you see a small lock symbol in the browser bar.
When SSL encryption is activated, information that you send to us cannot be read by third parties.

Right to information, deletion, and blocking

You have the right at any given time to obtain information – at no cost – on your personal data, where it came from, who received it and the purpose of the data processing. You also have a right to have this information corrected, blocked or deleted.
