Application Critical Legal Training Program

We are reviewing applications to the Critical Legal Training three times a year.

To learn more about the program, including earliest possible start dates, read through the CLT website. For detailed information about application requirements, requested documents and process, please consult the FAQ document

Scholarships are an important tool of the CLT to reduce barriers due to financial and immigration restrictions. We circulate scholarship calls for our individual program teams ahead of each regular application cycle. They will be published here.

You may apply exclusively via our online form for your relevant program area. We accept applications only in this format during three application periods each year.

We will make the online forms available during the following periods:

February 1 to March 1
May 1 to June 1
October 1 to November 1

(The deadline is 11:59 p.m. (Berlin, UTC+1) on the last day of each period)

The forms are currently offline. You may use the form at the end of the FAQ document to prepare your application ahead of the next application period.

We also ask all applicants to complete the questionnaire on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI):
DEI-QUESTIONNAIRE

This information helps us identify and support applicants who may face systemic barriers or come from backgrounds that are underrepresented in the field of international human rights work. All information provided will be used exclusively to ensure equitable access and to prepare for and ensure successful participation in the Critical Legal Training. It will be stored separately from the application form and viewed only by the Critical Legal Training coordinators. Completing the questionnaire is voluntary.

Students who wish to claim a traineeship allowance from the ECCHR will be asked to complete an additional questionnaire after a successful application, based on which a needs-based allowance between €0 and €1,050 will be calculated.

Our online forms meet high security standards. Further information on the storage and processing of your application data and documents can be found in the data protection overview.

If you have questions about the application, problems with the online forms, or special requirements regarding the application process, please contact application@ecchr.eu
