Das von Moskau aus großzügig finanzierte Regime des tschetschenischen Präsidenten Ramsan Kadyrow fordert Tribut: polizeiliche Willkür, Folter, das spurlose Verschwinden von Menschen und Ehrenmorde bestimmen das Bild in der Vorzeigerepublik. Nach der Ermordung mehrerer Menschenrechts­aktivistinnen und -aktivisten in Tschetschenien in den vergangenen Jahren haben sich die Bedingungen für Menschenrechtsarbeit in der russischen Kaukasusrepublik zunehmend verschlechtert. Mobile Einsatzgruppen untersuchen seit 2009 in Tschetschenien Menschenrechtsverletzungen.
