Fiona Thorp

Fiona Thorp completed her undergraduate law degree from the University of Otago (New Zealand) and subsequently obtained an LL.M. (Hons) from Columbia Law School. She is licensed as a lawyer in New Zealand, where she has previously worked as a solicitor in public law litigation, with a focus on human rights and pro bono work, and as a legal and policy adviser at the New Zealand Law Commission. While at Columbia, she worked with the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967. She also worked on projects related to decolonising human rights advocacy, and the draft treaty on crimes against humanity. In October 2024, Fiona Thorp joined ECCHR's International Crimes and Accountability Program as a Research Fellow.
