Dr Julia Duchrow was appointed Secretary General of Amnesty International Germany in November 2023. Prior, Julia Duchrow was Deputy Secretary General and a member of the Executive Board. Before, she headed the Human Rights & Peace Department at Bread for the World for eight years, preceded by ten years as an asylum policy officer at Amnesty International. Julia Duchrow was an elected member of the Coordination Committee of the Human Rights Forum (2011-2023) and deputy German member of the Administrative Board of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (2017 to 2022). She also was a member of the Board of Trustees of the German Institute for Human Rights (2016 to 2020) and of the Advisory Board for Civilian Crisis Prevention at the Federal Foreign Office (2015 to 2018). She is a lawyer with a PHD in international law.
