Victoria Riello-Brakensiek

Victoria Riello-Brakensiek studied law at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and obtained an LL.M. degree in Public International Law from Leiden University (the Netherlands) with a specialisation in Peace, Justice and Development. She has worked in several NGOs providing legal advice on international criminal and humanitarian law, for instance on the commission of international crimes against migrants in Libya and on the crime of gender persecution in Iran. In 2021, she completed the Critical Legal Traineeship at ECCHR and worked as a Project Fellow thereafter. She joined the International Committee of the Red Cross in Geneva as an associate at the Legal Division in 2022, where she supported legal advisors on themes such as the protection of persons with disabilities, gender and sexual violence, and universal jurisdiction. Since February 2024, she has been working as project coordinator in ECCHR’s International Crimes and Accountability program.
