Colonial crimes are often thought of as a dark chapter of the Western imperial past. However, in many cases, these crimes have enduring, palpable effects on the descendants of colonized peoples that persist to this day. This is part of the reason why colonial injustice must be treated as a current human rights issue.

ECCHR recently traveled to Namibia and Tanzania to acquire more evidence about the circumstances of past colonial crimes and to develop strategies with the communities there for seeking reparations and restitution. Learn more about this research on the ground and our upcoming conference on colonial crimes and reparations in Namibia in this newsletter, along with other topics.
