Annual report
2026
Around the world, the work of human rights and civil rights organizations is being attacked – it is becoming increasingly dangerous, and funding is being deliberately cut off. This makes our work all the more important – especially now, when authoritarian forces are gaining strength worldwide.
Although we find ourselves in a period of profound geopolitical change, its outcome is not predetermined. Many human rights advances have emerged under difficult conditions – driven by affected communities, committed individuals, and sustained civil society action. Our work at ECCHR shows that even in seemingly hopeless conditions, change is possible. This work depends on active engagement from civil society – and is also thanks to your support.
We are pleased to share our Annual Report with you, featuring the artwork of Ahmed Ismaldin and articles by Eva von Redecker, Mark B. Taylor, Charlotte Wiedemann, and others. In addition to reviewing the work of ECCHR and our partners over the past year, the report examines the legal and political challenges – as well as the possibilities – of the present moment. We thus invite you to read it both as an account of the last year and as a opportunity for reflection on what lies ahead.
