Martin Glasenapp

Martin Glasenapp studied history at the University of Bielefeld. For many years, he held a senior position at the German human rights and development aid organization medico international, with a focus on critical public relations and political communication. During multiple work-related assignments, he worked extensively in the Maghreb and the Middle East, particularly in the Kurdish regions of Turkey, Syria and Iraq, but also in Lebanon, Israel and the Palestinian territories. In connection to this work, he regularly publishes in print and online, as well as gives lectures at trade unions, foundations, churches and municipal institutions on the topics of the Middle East, Syria, Kurdistan, refugees and migration. From 2006 onward, Martin Glasenapp headed the executive office of the DIE LINKE party, and beginning in February 2022, he headed the office of Senator Katja Kipping, Senate Department for Integration, Labor and Social Affairs, in the red-green-red Berlin Senate. Since August 2023, he has worked as Director of Communications and Advocacy at ECCHR.
