Allison West studied international human rights and international humanitarian law at the Irish Centre for Human Rights (National University of Ireland, Galway). She previously studied international relations with a focus in human geography and Middle East studies at Middlebury College in the US. Her work has focused extensively on human rights violations and international crimes in the context of detention, including in Egypt, Iraq, Libya, Palestine and in relation to the US “war on terror.” She has supported NGO submissions to the International Criminal Court, consulted on rule of law projects for the United Nations Development Programme, and conducted human rights policy research at the Berlin-based Global Public Policy Institute. She was a legal trainee with ECCHR from 2012 to 2013. In autumn 2020, she joined ECCHR’s International Crimes and Accountability program as a senior legal advisor.
