Indigenous Rights Violations and Shrinking Space in Chhattisgarh

India Justice Project,
European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights (ECCHR)
Report
2022

This report by India Justice Project and the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights presents insights into the ongoing assault of the Indian state and mega-corporations on the country’s Adivasi (indigenous) inhabitants. Through a case study of the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh, carved out of Madhya Pradesh in 2000 to facilitate state-sanctioned and corporate-led resource extraction, the report highlights the legal and institutional means through which powerful state, military and corporate actors shrink space, both literally and metaphorically, for Adivasi rights.
