Sönke Hilbrans

Sönke Hilbrans studied law at the University of Trier and has worked as a lawyer in Berlin since 2000. He specializes in criminal law and practices in criminal defense. In the area of administrative law his work focuses on data protection law, freedom of information law and police and the secret services law. Hilbrans has co-authored commentaries on data protection and residency law. He also serves as a judge at the Constitutional Court of Berlin. For many years he was board member of the Republikanischer Anwältinnen- und Anwälteverein (RAV) and the German Privacy Association (DVD). He has been a partner lawyer with ECCHR since the organization's establishment and joined the ECCHR team as an expert advisor in April 2016.
