Breakthrough for the protection of refugees and migrants
D was a journalist in Turkey. In 2016, he fled the country for fear of persecution by the government. Yet, after crossing the Bulgarian border, he was pushed back to Turkey, without any assessment of his case. He filed a complaint to the European Court of Human rights – and he won.
