Yaroslavna Sychenkova

International Crimes and Accountability

Having studied international relations in Russia, Germany and England, Yaroslavna Sychenkova obtained an Master of Laws degree in international human rights and humanitarian law from the European University Viadrina in Germany with a focus on freedom of speech and protection of whistleblowers. During her studies, Sychenkova was involved in protecting human rights defenders. She supported Frontline Defenders in Dublin and the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders in Geneva, and gained experience in international criminal law  as a legal trainee at ECCHR. Since February 2017, Sychenkova has worked as a legal advisor in the International Crimes and Accountability program, in particular on human rights violations committed in Syria.
