The Kissinger Project
ECCHR-Office, September 14th 2012, 6pm
With Alfredo Jaar, Frank Wagner and Wolfgang Kaleck
On September 11th 2012, the artist will unveil his new public intervention realized specifically for Berlin: advertisements urging the arrest of Henry Kissinger will be published in main Berlin newspapers. This project will be the closing event of Alfredo Jaar’s exhibition in Berlin and is part of a series of works the artist realized in the eighties about Henry Kissinger and his role in the military coup in Chile in 1973.
Mr. Kissinger, who served in different functions in the U.S. government (1969-1977) is one of the main actors responsible for war crimes carried out by the United States and their allies. He was never investigated nor charged for his crimes. On the contrary: he is still welcomed and respected in Germany and elsewhere.
